Role
The Web services developer will design, create, package, publish, and test Web services, and support the development of clients that access them securely. This includes developing Web services using the Web services wizards, debugging and monitoring Web services using the TCP/IP Monitor, publishing Web services to a UDDI registry, configuring handlers and security in Web service deployment descriptors, and using the WS-I tools to develop interoperable Web services.
The Web services developer is familiar with Web services related protocols and standards such as SOAP, WSDL, JAX-WS and others.
The Web services developer will also use an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as use IBM Rational Application Developer to develop Web services. The Web services developer will also package and deploy Web services to the IBM WebSphere Application Server runtime environment.
Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:
