Role

The System Administrator ensures that all IT services and infrastructures meet operational targets. System Administrators are expected to perform the installation, configuration, and day-to-day tasks associated with the smooth and efficient operation of an IBM Sterling B2B Integrator environment. In addition, the System Administrators understand the complexities of business process design and maintenance, analyze architecture and security issues, and perform advanced troubleshooting. System Administrators identify performance bottlenecks and provide administrative solutions where appropriate.

Assumptions

It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:

  • Working knowledge of underlying operating system platforms
  • Working knowledge of underlying databases
  • Application Server administration skills

Objectives

After completing this training, students should be able to:

  • Summarize electronic commerce, e-business, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) concepts and components
  • Read and interpret the X12 Standards manuals, and describe each of the standards supported and why we use them
