Role
The Operations Research (OR) analyst uses IBM ILOG CPLEX V12, together with a programming language such as C++ or Java, to develop optimization models and possibly solution algorithms for custom optimization-based applications, such as planning and scheduling applications.
Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:
- Basic algebra
- Have a knowledge of basic algebra
Objectives
After completing this training, students should be able to:
- Use CPLEX to model and solve a variety of Mathematical Programming (MP) problems
- Modify CPLEX parameters to improve the solution process
- Debug models and perform post-optimization analysis
- Experiment with a range of advanced CPLEX features
Overview
CPLEX delivers the power to solve large-scale, real-world optimization problems, the reliability necessary for mission-critical decision making, and the speed required in today's interactive applications.
This 3-day instructor-led course teaches students how to use IBM ILOG CPLEX to model and solve problems expressed with linear constraints (linear and mixed-integer programming problems) or certain nonlinear constraints (quadratic programming problems). The course is split between core and optional units to allow students to request additional material on areas of specific relevance to their work.
Through a combination of presentations and lab exercises, students learn how to model and solve a variety of problem types using CPLEX.
