The IBM z/VM Directory Maintenance Facility (DirMaint) and the Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) for z/VM are optional features of z/VM V5. Learn how to implement DirMaint in a z/VM 5.1.0 system environment, how to define additional DirMaint administrators, and how to create and modify virtual machines using DirMaint commands. Also, discuss defining password attributes and expiration dates for DirMaint controlled virtual machines.
Integrated access control and authentication services may be augmented with the addition of the RACF for z/VM feature or other external security managers. Learn how to implement RACF for z/VM using the RACF Program Directory. Also, discuss defining RACF users and permitting users to access RACF resources.
Focus on the steps required to implement DirMaint and RACF in the z/VM 5.1.0 environment. Participate in hands-on exercises to install, tailor, and use these two program products, from a system programmer and end-user's point of view. This course is the result of requests by customers who have made comments to key personal at the Endicott Programming Lab and instructors in classrooms and at conferences about the need for DirMaint and RACF/VM education.
Course Materials
The course materials cover z/VM V5.1 RACF and DirMaint.
Hands-On Labs
Nine labs are included to address DirMaint implementation, DirMaint commands, DirMaint processes, RACF implementation, RACF operations and commands, RACF processes, RACF data security monitor (DSMON), Report Writer, and backups, and RACF and Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) implementation and dual registration.
