Self-paced virtual classroom (SPVC) courses provide the same deep technical content as WebSphere Education classroom courses, but allow you to learn on your own schedule. You can stop and start a self-paced virtual class as needed during the 60-day access period.
This self-paced course combines streaming lecture with streaming demonstrations, to introduce participants to the transfer of files via the DataPower application from one system to another.
The course lecture explains options for transferring files from one system to another using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and SFTP (SSH (Secure Shell) File Transfer Protocol). Students explore the most popular options for securing file transfers, and the benefits and drawbacks of each option. The lecture also describes how to use the DataPower appliance with FTP, Secure FTP, and SFTP, and how to configure the appliance over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol handlers. Finally, students learn how to use the URL-Open extension function to programmatically use the FTP protocol.
The course concludes with three demonstrations of a DataPower appliance participating in the transfer of files from one system to another. In the first demonstration, the DataPower appliance is the FTP client. In the second demonstration, the DataPower appliance acts as the FTP server. In the final demonstration, the DataPower appliance proxies an FTP server as an SFTP server accepting an SFTP client connection.
