NOTE: THIS IS AN ONLINE SELF-PACED VIRTUAL COURSE. DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS COURSE.

Self-paced virtual classroom (SPVC) courses provide the same deep technical content as WebSphere Education classroom courses, but allow you to learn on your own schedule. You can stop and start a self-paced virtual class as needed during the 60-day access period.

Course Overview:

This self-paced virtual classroom course combines streaming lectures with a demonstration to explain how to control access to protected resources with the IBM DataPower appliance and its Authentication, Authorization, and Auditing (AAA) framework.

One of the reasons customers invest in a DataPower solution is its ability to protect back-end resources using a configurable variety of internal and external security solutions.

The course starts with a streaming lecture that describes the security technologies supported by the DataPower AAA framework. Students will learn how to enforce access control using approaches that execute on the appliance itself, and approaches that use external technologies such as Tivoli Access Manager or Tivoli Security Policy Manager. The lecture covers end-to-end security between DataPower and a back-end application server, and then describes how to write AAA policies using the DataPower AAA framework. Students will learn how to customize the steps of the AAA policy to extract identities, and perform custom authentication or authorization. The demonstration shows students how to configure a AAA policy that uses standard LDAP functionality to perform authentication and authorization, and to reconfigure the policy to use custom style sheets supporting a non-standard AAA scenario.
