Self-paced virtual classroom (SPVC) courses provide the same deep technical content as WebSphere Education classroom courses, but allow you to learn on your own schedule. You can stop and start a self-paced virtual class as needed during the 60-day access period.
This self-paced virtual classroom (SPVC) course combines a streaming lecture and a demonstration, to introduce participants to the IBM DataPower support for Representational State Transfer (REST) and RESTful services.
Many customers in a competitive business environment expect content-rich and responsive web applications. The umbrella term ''Web 2.0'' includes the various tools, standards, protocols, and techniques that enhance user experiences with web applications.
Representational State Transfer, more commonly known as REST, is a Web 2.0 technique that simplifies the interactions between the client and the back-end service. IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances can help organizations deliver Web 2.0 content to users by providing services that interact with REST-based applications or clients.
This course starts with a lecture that briefly introduces REST and the REST terminology, and then describes the tooling within the DataPower firmware that supports RESTful interactions. The course lecture ends with a sample service policy that supports a RESTful client with a SOAP-based web service back end. The course concludes with a demonstration that shows the creation of the DataPower service supporting this sample scenario.
