NOTE: THIS IS A SELF-PACED COURSE WITH A FIXED START AND END DATE.
You will be given access to the course material, and to a DataPower appliance in order to perform the labs, for a period of 4 days from the designated start date. At the end of the class period, your access will be removed. No extensions to the access period are possible.
This self-paced course does not involve a live instructor.
Please note that your enrollment will be confirmed shortly after you enroll, but you will not be sent the details on how to access the course and the lab environment until approximately 3 days before the designated class start date.
Self-paced virtual classroom (SPVC) courses provide the same deep technical content as WebSphere Education classroom courses, but allow you to learn on your own schedule. You can stop and start a self-paced virtual class as needed during the 4-day access period.
There is no live instructor for this course, so it may not be appropriate for students who require the guidance of a live instructor.
Course overview:
This self-paced virtual classroom (SPVC) course combines a streaming lecture with a hands-on lab exercise to introduce participants to the IBM DataPower support for Representational State Transfer (REST) and RESTful services.
Many customers in a competitive business environment expect content-rich and responsive web applications. The umbrella term 'Web 2.0' includes the various tools, standards, protocols, and techniques that enhance user experiences with web applications.
Representational State Transfer, more commonly known as REST, is a Web 2.0 technique that simplifies the interactions between the client and the back-end service. IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances can help organizations deliver Web 2.0 content to users by providing services that interact with REST-based applications or clients.
This course starts with a lecture that briefly introduces REST and the REST terminology, and then describes the tooling within the DataPower firmware that supports RESTful interactions. The course lecture ends with a sample service policy that supports a RESTful client with a SOAP-based web service back end. The course concludes with a hands-on lab exercise that enables a student to create a DataPower service supporting this sample scenario.
