This curriculum includes:
- IBM DB2 UDB Essentials Part 1 - Fundamentals of DB2 UDB Programming
- IBM DB2 UDB Essentials Part 2 - System and Database Administration
- IBM DB2 UDB Essentials Part 3 - SQL Fundamentals
- IBM DB2 UDB Essentials Part 4 - Advanced SQL
In Part 1 learn the fundamentals of IBM DB2. Get an introduction to the IBM DB2 UDB family and the key elements of database management services. Examine SQL comprehensively from the end user's perspective - write and run SQL and apply SQL to business intelligence. Then explore SQL and programming - the principal elements of SQL test environments, programming, compiling and execution.
In Part 2 focus on the roles and principal tasks of the system administrator and the database administrator in IBM DB2. Learn about administrative utilities and security. Get a comprehensive introduction to the areas of database modeling, database design, and distributed data processing, all of which are core concepts within IBM DB2 UDB.
In Part 3 get an introduction to the fundamental elements of SQL. Address simple query running before moving on to more complex procedures, such as retrieving data from multiple tables and creating single reports from multiple queries. Review scalar and column functions. Also, learn to run subqueries and maintain data. Learn to write basic Data Manipulation Language (DML) SQL statements and basic Data Definition Language (DDL) SQL statements.
In Part 4 learn how to make use of advanced SQL techniques to access DB2 databases in different environments. Examine creating SQL objects, CASE, CAST and summary tables, joins, subqueries, scalar functions, recursive SQL, User-defined Distinct Types (UDT) / User-Defined Functions (UDF), and general performance guidelines.
