Part 1: During the first 3 days, you will you will learn how to customizing Rational ClearQuest. You will examine planning and implementing defect and change request tracking processes, customizing Rational ClearQuest to facilitate these operations, and administering the ClearQuest system. This course is recommended for new Rational ClearQuest administrators or system architects who want to learn to manage the defect and change tracking process with Rational ClearQuest.
Part 2: During the next 2 days, you will examine the special planning and maintenance issues involved in deploying, installing, operating and administering Rational ClearQuest MultiSite among geographically distributed sites. This course is specially designed for network managers and administrators of Rational ClearQuest MultiSite installations.

Prerequisites
To benefit from this course, you should have the following skills or experience:

- Principles of Defect and Change Tracking with Rational ClearQuest
Instructor- Led Training (on-site only)
- Essentials of Rational ClearQuest (Equivalent to SCM110)
Part 1:
- Have some basic knowledge of relational database management systems
- Know the meaning of defect and change tracking
- Be able to develop scripts with VBScript and/or Perl
- Understand the need for collaborative development
Part 2:
- Know how to manage computer networks with TCP/IP protocols
- Have at least one year of system administrator experience for UNIX and/or Microsoft Windows environments
- Have some basic knowledge of relational database management systems
- Know how to track defects and change requests with Rational ClearQuest
- Be able to develop scripts with VBScript and/or Perl
- Understand the need for collaborative development
Skills taught
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:
Part 1:
- Apply an iterative, use case-driven, architecture-centric process to the development of a robust design model
- Use Unified Modeling Language (UML) 2.0 to represent the design model
- Apply the concepts of abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism
- Explain the different views of software architecture, the key mechanisms that are defined in support of that architecture, and the effect of the architecture and mechanisms on the produced design
- Describe some basic design considerations, including the use of patterns
Part 2:
- Follow the best practice of using visual modeling
- Use UML to create various types of models (Analysis, Design, and so on)
- Work as part of a team including one or more of the following roles: analysts, architects, and developers
- Use patterns to ensure that best practices are reflected in their modeling
- Ensure that solutions are connected to requirements (in other words, Traceability)
- Maintain traceability with IBM® Rational® RequisitePro®
- Visualize requirements using UML
