Learn the fundamentals of Linux TCP/IP network configuration and administration through reading assignments, multimedia presentations, interactive real-time chats with an instructor, and quizzes with instructor feedback.

Learn to implement and use: the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP); electronic mail; static and dynamic routing; the Domain Name System (DNS); the Network File System (NFS); the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP); and the Network Time Protocol (NTP).

This is an intermediate course for network administrators or individuals who configure, use, and support TCP/IP and common network services, such as electronic mail, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), Network File System (NFS), and Network Information System (NIS) on Linux.

Prerequisites

You should:

  • Have a working knowledge of the Linux environment and commands
  • Be able to edit files with vi
  • Understand file systems, directories, files and their security
  • Understand the concept of mounting file systems
  • Have a basic knowledge of general networking concepts

These skills can be obtained by completing:
