This is the classroom version of Instructor Led Online (ILO) course 3V860.
This course is for installers of DB2 UDB for z/OS V8 and/or migration to DB2 9 for z/OS using the Install CLIST. You will be involved in lectures to understand DB2 UDB for z/OS and DB2 9 Components and pointer and the processes involved to install and or migrate DB2. To reinforce the lectures a series of labs are provided to give you hands-on experience installing DB2 UDB V8 and migrating to DB2 9 for z/OS.
The hands on labs include exercises to:
Install DB2 UDB for z/OS V8 Subsystem
- Verification with the Sample Applications
- Perform Parameter Updates
Increase the size of the BSDS
Cconvert the BSDS
Migrate to DB2 9 Compatibility Mode
- Fallback to DB2 UDB for z/OS V8
- Migrate Again to DB2 9 Compatibility Mode
- Enable New Function Mode
- Verify with the sample applications
- Precompile Option NEWFUN(NO)

Anyone responsible for maintaining, installing and/or migrating DB2 UDB for z/OS V8 to DB9 for z/OS or installing DB2 9 for z/OS.
Prerequisites
You should have an understanding of:
- the basic concepts and facilities of DB2
- the basic concepts of Structured Query Language (SQL)
- MVS Time Sharing Option (TSO) and the MVS interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF)
- Course CV83 Database Administration or
- equivalent Work experience in a z/OS environment
You should have knowledge:
- CV85 Database Administration
- how to define and allocate MVS data sets using MVS job control language (JCL) or
- equivalent experience

After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Prepare z/OS TSO Environment to run the Install CLIST
- Provide appropriate parameters for the Install CLIST
- Execute the Install CLIST
- Define DB2 9 for z/OS to MVS
- Describe VSAM Catalog and Alias
- Identify system data sets and databases
- Initialize system data sets and databases
- Know DB2 9 for z/OS initialization parameters
- Recognize user authorization exits
- Record DB2 9 for z/OS data to SMF
- Establish subsystem security
- Verify the install
