Lotus Mobile Connect provides mobile users and industry leading handheld PDA users with the highest level of data security with optimized data and connectivity costs. It also delivers seamless automatic cross-network roaming that allows mobile users to stay connected when the network layer fails, hops, or changes to another transport. Lotus Mobile Connect delivers best-of-breed performance, cost-optimization and a productive user experience.
In this workshop, you will learn how Lotus Mobile Connect integrates with new or existing WebSphere Portal, Lotus Sametime, and Lotus Domino installations.
Prerequisites
- A sound understanding of TCP/IP networking and routing is essential; only a refresher will be provided
- A sound knowledge of your intended wired, dial-up and wireless network topologies
- An understanding of network security (firewalls, LDAP, RADIUS, authentication and VPN encryption)
- Basic UNIX skills are desirable for the practical sessions but are not essential; practical sessions use Red Hat Linux
- A working knowledge of the devices you plan to mobilize; Windows Mobile is used in the lab sessions

- Capabilities of monitoring packet flow using wg_monitor
- Installing and configuring Lotus Mobile Connect, the wireless gatekeeper (administration services) and mobile client
- Accessing backend servers, including WebSphere Portal, Lotus Sametime, and Lotus Domino
- Using client autostart capabilities and installing and configuring the mobility client
- Demonstration of roaming capabilities of Lotus Mobile Connect
- How to use the toolkit
