Learn to better understand the techniques of performance analysis on the System i. Increase your knowledge on how the system operates and interfaces with applications. Acquire the skills to better manage performance on the System i system. In the hands-on labs (based on i5/OS V5R3 and V5R4 data, focus on a review methodology using Performance Tools for iSeries License Program Product (5722-PT1) and performance database files. Learn how to apply your interest and background in System i performance to solve more in-depth System i performance problems.
Enhance your knowledge of the System i concepts as they relate to performance, including the Technology Independent Machine Interface (TIMI), main storage pools, auxiliary storage pools, management of jobs/threads and tasks, job run time structure, performance data collection, monitoring and analysis using various facilities within the performance tools product. A new topic discusses concepts of Logical Partitioning with i5/OS on i5 hardware, including capped and uncapped modes together with a review of micro-partitioning performance considerations. Techniques for reviewing performance data in a System i5 Dynamic LPAR environment are included.
Explore the analysis approaches needed for different types of symptoms of performance problems. Apply tools and methodology of performance tuning on System i through hands-on exercises. Analyze data based on actual performance data and present an overview of the problems, findings, and recommendations associated with the data.
