Audience
This is an intermediate course i5/OS Network administrators who implement the native security functions and who intend to implement and/or support i5/OS network security using Digital Certificate, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), IP filtering, Network Address Translation (NAT), and virtual private networking (VPN).
Prerequisites
You should complete:
or have the skills to install, configure, and maintain TCP/IP and its basic server functions on the OS/400 operating system.

After completing this course, the you will be able to:
- List the OS/400 functions of that can enhance security
- Locate documentation resources available for OS/400 security features
- Acquire a Digital Certificate from a Certificate Authority
- Secure an FTP server using Operations Navigator, FTP exit programs and the OS/400 Digital Certificate Manager
- Secure Telnet
- Configure and activate IP Filters
- Define and activate NAT with OS/400
- Define and configure VPN between OS/400 systems
Skills Taught:
- Discuss the security concerns associated with enabling TCP/IP on the System i connected to the Internet, an intranet, or both
- Secure an iSeries File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server using FTP exit programs or the FTP security functions of Operations Navigator
- Implement SSL on an System i using Digital Certificate Manager
- Acquire digital certificates from a public certificate authority or make the iSeries a private certificate authority.
