NOTE: THIS IS AN ONLINE SELF-PACED COURSE. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS COURSE.

Due to the nature of the enrollment mechanism, you see this course marked as a classroom course. However, this course is delivered as an online self-paced course, and will be available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is no instructor for this course. Choose any of the course instances listed under the course schedule to enroll, and you will receive information on how to access the course in 2-3 business days. (Please note: once you enroll in this course, you will not be able to unenroll.) Please do not make any travel plans for this class.

This course was built using the Pack For SAP V6.5 which works with Information Server/DataStage V8.1 and V8.5 and addresses SAP ECC version 6.0. However, most concepts discussed extend beyond this particular version and are designed to give you core, version-agnostic, reference, and tutorial knowledge).

In a simulation, this FlexLearning course lets you 'drive' the UIs in which you will set up a connection between Information Server and SAP and then perform various loads and extracts using Intermediate Documents (IDocs), Business APIs (BAPIs), and ABAP (All within your IE 5+ browser)

The course begins by briefly discussing some of the concepts of integrating Information Server and SAP R/3. It talks about the environment in which these products 'live' and the benefits of connecting them. A number of use-cases are briefly reviewed. The course then discussed the DataStage PACKs in general and then the Pack For SAP in particular. It touches on BW but focuses on R/3. Performance is discussed as well.

Then, you will go into a Guided Tour Product Simulation. Here, you will see and use many of the features while you do the following:

Setting up the system using the Administrator for SAP (A DataStage client) to connect to SAP's Enterprise Central Component (ECC)

  • Perform an extraction using ABAP
  • Perform an extract using IDoc
  • Perform a load using IDoc
  • Perform an extraction using BAPI
  • Perform a load using BAPI

Note: This is a self-paced online course in which the Guided Tour Product Simulation requires no installations: Everything is through your IE 5.0+ browser. The browser-based product simulation lets you 'learn-by-doing' in a case-study scenario in which you solve a 'real-life' business problem using InfoSphere products.

Please DO NOT make travel arrangements for this course. After you receive confirmation that you are registered, just follow the instructions to access the course. Once you receive your access information, you will have 1 year to complete this course (Customers with multi-user subscriptions to the entire FlexLearning library have access length specified in their agreement). Once you access the course, instructor help is available via the course forum Monday through Friday; questions will be responded to within 24 hours. Complete the course at your convenience, at any location, and at your own pace. The course is available 24 hours a day and can be used as a tutorial, reference, and/or review.
