In several installation simulations, this FlexLearning course lets you drive the CLI and UIs in which you will install Information Server and its components on Windows, on UNIX, on a cluster, on a third party database, and in a distributed and highly available environment (All within your browser)
This course begins by discussing basic and advanced options available to you with the Suite Installer for Information Server 8.5 (and any of its product modules such as DataStage). These advanced options include:
- Web based installation
- Incremental Un-installation
- DB2 HADR/Oracle RAC/Engine HA Installation
- Incremental Installation
- Distributed Installation
- HTTPs Based Installation
- Resume Installation
- Session Reconnect
- Update Installation
- Platform Support
- Exception handling capability
- Built in HA support
- WebSphere cluster support
Then, you will go into a Guided Tour Product Simulation. Here, you will see and use many of the features while you do the following:
- A basic installation on Windows
- A basic installation on UNIX
- Installation on a cluster
- Install using a third-party database
- 3-Tier or distributed installation with HA
You can use this tutorial's main menu to navigate directly to any of the types of installation that you want to perform (You don't have to do a basic install on Windows, for example, if you want to go directly to UNIX or you can go directly to installing on a cluster if you wish).
Note: This is a self-paced online course in which the Guided Tour Product Simulation requires no installations: Everything is through your IE 5.0+ browser.
The browser-based product simulation lets you 'learn-by-doing' in a case-study scenario in which you solve a 'real-life' business problem using InfoSphere products.
Please DO NOT make travel arrangements for this course. After you receive confirmation that you are registered, just follow the instructions to access the course. Once you receive your access information, you will have 1 year to complete this course (Customers with multi-user subscriptions to the entire FlexLearning library have accesslength specified in their agreement). Once you access the course, instructor help is available via the course forum Monday through Friday; questions will be responded to within 24 hours. Complete the course at your convenience, at any location, and at your own pace. The course is available 24 hours a day and can be used as a tutorial, reference, and/or review.
