NOTE: THIS IS AN ONLINE SELF-PACED VIRTUAL COURSE. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS COURSE.
Self-paced virtual courses provide the same deep technical content as our classroom courses, but allow you to learn on your own schedule. You can stop and start a Self-Paced Virtual class as needed during the 60-day access period.
There is no live instructor for this course, so it may not be appropriate for students who require the guidance of a live instructor. In such cases, students should consider the alternative versions of this course:
- Classroom delivery: IBM WebSphere Process Server V7 Performance and Tuning (WB724)
- Instructor-led online delivery: IBM WebSphere Process Server V7 Performance and Tuning (Remote Classroom)(VB724)
Course Overview:
In this three-day instructor-led course, students learn the advanced skills needed to tune the runtime performance of IBM WebSphere Process Server V7.
It is often necessary to configure the WebSphere Process Server system beyond the default settings in order to improve runtime performance. For example, Service Component Architecture (SCA) solutions with human task components may introduce a different performance bottleneck than solutions without human tasks.
In this course, students build on the WebSphere Process Server skills developed by completing course Administration of IBM WebSphere Process Server V7 (WB722)/(VB722). This course starts by introducing a tuning checklist that lists the major WebSphere Process Server components and their associated configuration properties. Students learn about the various configuration parameters available to system administrators, and how knowledge of configuration settings is necessary for improving the runtime performance of WebSphere Process Server. The course provides hints and tips on configuring WebSphere Process Server through in-depth discussions of each SCA component. Students also learn about the WebSphere Process Server capacity planning process.
Hands-on exercises throughout the course reinforce lecture content, and enable students to gain direct experience with WebSphere Process Server performance tuning techniques by working with the runtime performance of each binding type. The exercises also allow students to see a number of different configuration parameter settings as they navigate through the administration console. Finally, students are introduced to the Tivoli Performance Viewer, and learn how to use it to monitor the runtime performance of an SCA application.
After completing this course, students will have a solid foundation in best practices for tuning WebSphere Process Server, as well as the skills to diagnose performance problems, such as Java memory issues.
Online Enrollment:
THIS IS A SELF-PACED VIRTUAL CLASS. ONCE YOU REGISTER, YOU HAVE 60 DAYS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE.
Before you enroll, review the system requirements listed below to ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for this course.
Within 48 hours of enrolling in the course, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing your online link, your ID and password, and additional instructions for starting the course.

ONCE YOU ARE ENROLLED IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CANCEL YOUR ENROLLMENT.
Målgrupp
This course is for anyone who implements, deploys, or manages SCA applications that run in IBM WebSphere Process Server. It is particularly useful for system administrators, deployment engineers, process administrators, support engineers, and integration developers.
Förkunskaper
You should successfully complete course:
- Administration of IBM WebSphere Process Server V7 (WB722)/(VB722).
Successful completion of course:
- Developing Applications for IBM WebSphere Process Server V7 - I (WB711)/(VB711) is not required, but it is highly recommended.
Mål
- Apply the WebSphere Process Server performance checklist and configure the server for better performance
- Tune the target modules for SCA asynchronous, Java Message Service (JMS), SOAP over HTTP, and SOAP over JMS bindings
- Explain how events are persisted in long-running business processes
- Calculate a realistic database table growth rate for each solution, and consult with database administrators (DBA) to come up with a database sizing strategy
