This three day class is an intermediate course that incorporates sales and technical lecture material on IBM High Performance Computing (HPC). The HPC sales lecture material includes high-level information on High Performance Computing, current IBM System x iDataPlex HPC hardware solutions, the build of material for the IBM Intelligent Cluster 11B, the IBM DCS3700 HPC storage offering, a break-down of the HPC software stack, and the HPC process for pricing. The HPC technical lecture material includes an overview of HPC network and server types and characteristics and an overview of configuring an HPC solutions using the IBM System x and Cluster Solutions configurator (x-config). Hands-on lab exercises include a demonstration on how to configure an HPC solution using x-config.
