This 3-day instructor-led course teaches students how to install and configure IBM WebSphere Virtual Enterprise V6.1.0.1. It also includes topics relevant to IBM WebSphere Virtual Enterprise V7.
IBM WebSphere Virtual Enterprise extends existing middleware environments, such as WebSphere Application Server, Apache Tomcat, and JBoss, by virtualizing the resources that are used to run middleware applications. WebSphere Virtual Enterprise also improves the manageability of middleware server environments.
Using a combination of lecture and hands-on activities in a simulated real-world production environment, this course covers the components and features of WebSphere Virtual Enterprise from the perspective of a systems administrator. The course begins with an overview of WebSphere Virtual Enterprise and middleware virtualization. Students then learn about the concepts, architecture, installation, and administration of the components that are associated with middleware virtualization in a WebSphere Virtual Enterprise environment. Topics include working with administrative components in the WebSphere Virtual Enterprise runtime, advanced administration topics such as routing for middleware servers, and best practices and design considerations. Finally, students learn about new features that are introduced in WebSphere Virtual Enterprise V7.
Throughout the course, hands-on lab exercises give students direct experience building WebSphere Virtual Enterprise administration skills. Exercise tasks include installing and configuring WebSphere Virtual Enterprise, configuring support for middleware servers, implementing a server health policy, and managing editions.
