This 2-day instructor-led course introduces policy managers and other business users to IBM WebSphere ILOG Rule Team Server V7.0, and teaches the concepts, processes, and procedures necessary to write, update, and maintain business rules.
Through instructor-led presentations, product demonstrations, and hands-on lab exercises, students learn the core features of IBM WebSphere ILOG Rule Team Server V7.0 and how to perform rule authoring tasks, including:
- Updates to existing business rules to reflect changes in business policy
- Creation of new business rules, using building blocks and vocabulary from the underlying business object model (BOM) to define variables and to express rule condition and action statements
- Creation and update of decision tables
Students also learn to use supporting features that simplify maintenance of rules, such as use of the query features to locate specific rules, analyze them to look for potential problems, and make changes, and use of the history feature to compare versions.
A realistic case study is used throughout the course to illustrate the principles of rule authoring. In hands-on exercises, students work with rules that are based on an actual business model, and experience some of the questions and issues that arise when striving to author rules that reflect complex business decisions and models.
Note: While IBM WebSphere ILOG Rule Team Server is used as the primary authoring tool throughout this course, skills mastered in this course are easily transferable to authoring rules in IBM WebSphere ILOG Rule Studio.
