This course covers the copy services functions of the DS8000 hardware in the Open Systems environment. This lab exercise based course covers the basics of the storage replication concepts and the use of the DS Storage Manager (DS GUI), DS Command-Line Interface (DS CLI) and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication (TPC-R) interfaces. FlashCopy, Metro Mirror, Global Copy and Global Mirror are covered in the course.

The labs exercises for this course are performed using remote access to IBM servers.

There is an Instructor-led online (ILO) version of this course, IBM DS8000 Copy Services for Open System (ILO) (SKF50).

This intermediate course is for system administrators, architects, and storage specialists. This course is also for anyone who needs to learn about DS8000 Copy Services and experiment with them on a real test configuration.

You should:

  • complete IBM DS8000 Implementation Workshop for Open Systems (SSF0SE) or IBM DS8000 Implementation Workshop for Open Systems (ILO) (SKF00SE)
  • and be comfortable with the use of the IBM DS Storage Manager or DSCLI interfaces in the labs
