This course enables you to acquire the skills necessary to explore and use the IBM Systems Director Management Console (SDMC) to manage Power System servers. You will learn about the major functions of the SDMC, how to access applications and tasks, customize views and data, how to access the SDMC command line, and run SDMC commands. A comparison to the Hardware Management Console (HMC) will also be provided. The emphasis is on hands-on exercises to reinforce the lectures. The lab environment includes SDMC virtual appliance and Power Systems server.

This is an intermediate course for IBM Business Partners, service professionals, and other individuals who will administer Power System servers using an SDMC.

You should have:
- basic knowledge of the IBM i operating system
- and familiarity with the Hardware Management Console (HMC)
Mål
- Login to the SDMC using a web browser and a terminal emulator
- Navigate the SDMC interface, manage tabs, perform various SDMC tasks, and find your way back to the welcome page and the resource table
- Discover and authenticate the SDMC with IBM Power System servers using both a web browser and the SDMC Graphical User Interface (GUI), and the SDMC Command Line Interface (CLI)
- Create, update, examine, and delete a virtual server, using both a web browser and the SDMC GUI and the SDMC CLI
