Kursbeskrivning: Install, Configure, and Use DataStage SOA Edition (RTI) - Web Based Training

Note: This is a self-paced online course in which the Guided Tour Product Simulation requires no installations: Everything is through your IE 5.0+ browser. Please DO NOT make travel arrangements for this course. After you receive confirmation that you are registered, just follow the instructions to access the course.

This browser-based product simulation let's you "learn-by-doing" in a case-study scenario in which you solve a 'real-life' business problem - no installations needed just a browser and a passion to learn.

By the end of this training you'll have a better understanding of how to use DataStage SOA (RTI) edition, its terminology, and a better understanding of how it can be implemented.

This course will put you in charge of the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and service publishing processes and require that you interact with DataStage, Command Window, and Mindreef SOAPscope environments within the tutorial's 'guided tour simulation' environment. You will learn by doing and benefit from expert instruction as you go. We will begin by discussing the terminology of how the technology is known by different names including DataStage SOA Edition, RTI, and WISD. We'll talk about the Information Integration platform and the architecture of DataStage SOA Edition including its components and the bindings that it makes available including Web Services, EJB, and JMS. We'll then answer questions such as 'What is a Service Oriented Architecture, what is RTI, and who would use this technology and why would they use them?'

In a guided tour simulation, you'll go through the steps needed to install RTI, validate that installation, troubleshoot connectivity and runtime errors, look at the RTI Config file, and ultimately publish a DataStage job as a service. Then, as a Developer, you'll use the service, and validate that the rows got processed when you called that service. Finally, you'll look at some error conditions, learn how to disable a job/service, and then we'll wrap things up with a discussion of job topologies, what types of jobs are good candidates to become services, what type of job to avoid, and work-arounds.

It is recommended that, prior to taking this course, you have the following knowledge:

• a familiarity with DataStage
• a working relationship with data integration team members at your company
• a minimal understanding of network architecture
• some programming experience is helpful but not necessary
• and some familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture concepts, such as Web Services, WSDL, etc.

By the end, you'll have an understanding of the installation process of RTI and DataStage SOA Edition and the concepts of the architecture. In a guided tour simulation, you'll go through the process of installing DataStage SOA Edition, its server, client, and administration tool. You will tag a DataStage job and publish it as a service. This service will be made available to portal developers, others in the enterprise who want an extract, and to developers who want to invoke the service that you've created. You will then call the service. You'll also validate, troubleshoot, and analyze errors and logs. While covering a relatively simple installation, you'll be made aware of some options, architectures, multiple application servers' behavior, and more complex installations. After this training, you should be able to do the following:

• Discuss the architecture of DataStage SOA Edition or RTI
• Install the product and perform both a quick and a more in depth validation
• Discuss the concepts involved in using different application servers, Web Service, EJB, and JMS bindings, and different installations
• Tag a DataStage job enabling it as a service
• Publish a DataStage job as a Web Service, execute the service, and troubleshoot error conditions
