Note: This is a self-paced online course in which the Guided Tour Product Simulation requires no installations: Everything is through your IE 5.0+ browser. Please DO NOT make travel arrangements for this course. After you receive confirmation that you are registered, just follow the instructions to access the course.
This browser-based product simulation let's you "learn-by-doing" in a case-study scenario in which you solve a 'real-life' business problem - no installations needed just a browser and a passion to learn.
By the end of this training you'll have a better understanding of this InfoSphere product's terminology, an overview of its architecture, and a better understanding of how it can be implemented.

Before entering a Guided Tour Product Simulation in which you will do some automation, we will begin by learning about the concepts involved. We'll talk about the technologies enabling automation and the automation of DataStage. Then we'll cover the concepts of job and sequence execution paradigms. We'll look, in detail, at exception handling at the Stage, Job, Sequence, Scheduler, and Enterprise Monitoring levels. Then we'll discuss checkpoint restarting, high availability installations, and event detection and notification. Finally we'll discuss runtime metrics and audit reporting as well as the architecture of the database that stores this data.
In a guided tour product simulation, you'll take control and deal with available built-in exception handling at various levels and custom exception handling using a number of methods including the BuildOp tool. Then you'll see how to configure the handling and tracking of various metrics.

- ETL Developers
- Application Developers
- ETL Developers
- Database Administrators
- Business Analysts
- Data Architects
- Data Integration teams
Förkunskaper
This course assumes that you have existing knowledge in the following areas:
- Some programming experience
- A solid understanding of DataStage or ETL tools,
- A working knowledge of related enterprise tools such as schedulers and enterprise monitors.
Familiarity with data integration challenges is a plus
Mål
You'll understand what production automation is, its architecture, how it works, and gain a familiarity with its terminology and UI. You'll learn about business challenges and how production automation can help solve problems. In the guided tour simulation, you'll go in and configure things including exception handling in many Stages, at the Job level, at the scheduler level, and see how audit metrics and notification can be configured
