This course teaches the concepts, methods and practices necessary to successfully use IBM Security Network Intrusion Protection System (IPS). This course focuses on providing in-depth practices necessary to successfully manage IBM Security Network IPS appliances. Students will learn about the appliance's operational modes and how to properly deploy the appliance in different environments. Students will also master configuring and managing the appliance. This course covers Network Intrusion Protection System fw4.1 and higher.

Students should complete:

• IBM Security SiteProtector System Basic Implementation and Administration Workshop (ZW053), or have prior experience with the IBM Security SiteProtector Management console.

• Introduction to intrusion prevention concepts and the IBM Protocol Analys Module
• Connect the IBM Security Network IPS to your network
• Use the Setup utility and local management interface to configure the intial settings on the appliance and register it with SiteProtector
• Manage IBM Security Network IPS using SiteProtector
• Configure firewall rules for IBM Security Network IPS
• Configure protection domains, security events, and response filters
• Configure connection events, tuning parameters, OpenSignature events, and user defined events
• Configure the X-Force Vitual patch, data loss prevention, and web application protection policies
