Course Overview:
This 3-day, self-paced course teaches core product skills and best practice methods required to install, configure, and manage an IBM WebSphere Lombardi Edition environment. Students will learn how to:
- Proactively monitor Lombardi process execution and perform basic configuration
- Explain how Lombardi interacts with the components of its application stack in order ensure to optimal configuration
- Define and manage user authorization and authentication using the Lombardi security provider

- J2EE, SQL, SOAP, and XML
- Administering multi-tier business applications
- Managing an application server, such as JBoss, WebSphere, or Weblogic
- Managing a database server, such as MS SQL Server or Oracle DB

- Identify interaction between the Process Server and Performance Server
- Describe the architecture of a typical Lombardi deployment
- Identify required resources for installing Lombardi
- List common installation steps
- Install Lombardi and perform post-installation tasks
- Identify core configuration files, their contents, and how they are loaded into the system
- Describe the three merge levels and how they can be leveraged when editing files
- Edit a configuration file
- Plan and create users and groups using the Lombardi security provider
- Configure access rights for each group
- Customize the process portal and administration console for users
- Take a snapshot and install the snapshot on a Runtime Environment
- Configure runtime participant groups and environment variables
- Describe how to migrate in-flight process data
- Identify the structure and content of log files
- Define the various logging levels and determine when each level is used
- Describe the structure of log4j.xml
- Back up and edit log4j.xml
- Configure log file display in the administration console
- Perform basic archival and data cleanup as needed to maintain the Lombardi environment
- Monitor runtime process instances and identify bottlenecks or errors in process execution
- Identify key process execution metrics and thresholds to monitor
- Describe the basics of Event Manager processing
