This 3-day instructor-led course teaches students how to customize IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository to support the service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance model within an organization.

WebSphere Service Registry and Repository facilitates the storage and management of service metadata, which enables the quick and easy publication, enrichment, governance, and reuse of services and policies in an SOA.

In this course, students learn the concepts and skills needed to customize and manage service metadata using WebSphere Service Registry and Repository. Topics include the architecture and main functions of WebSphere Service Registry and Repository, managing service metadata and service life cycles, implementing and enforcing governance policies, and accessing service metadata from different client environments. Students also learn how to administer WebSphere Service Registry and Repository environments, including troubleshooting and configuring security.

The hands-on lab exercises are designed to reinforce the lectures, enabling students to gain direct experience using WebSphere Service Registry and Repository. Skills covered in the exercises include navigating and using the WebSphere Service Registry and Repository Web interface, working with life cycle documents, authoring and managing service policies, and utilizing plug-ins to customize a WebSphere Service Registry and Repository environment.
