Tivoli Storage Manager version 6 introduces a DB2-based, nonproprietary database, new features, commands, and supported devices and platforms. This course explores new product features and commands, and provides hands-on exercises to gain practical product experience. Discover features like server and client-side data deduplication as a method of eliminating redundant data in storage pools, simultaneous-write function during migrationn, and enhancements to the Administration Center, including automatic deployment of backup-archive client code.

You will learn to plan and upgrade Tivoli Storage Manager V5 to Tivoli Storage Manager V6.2 and upgrade from Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1 to Tivoli Storage Manager V6.2. Implementing Tivoli Storage Manager 6.2 involves upgrading from the Tivoli Storage Manager proprietary database to a provided DB2 database. Basic DB2 functions and queries will be discussed in the class to ensure you have the necessary skil
