This suite is a package containing three self-paced virtual classes:

• AIX Basics (Self-paced Virtual Class)
• AIX System Administration I: Implementation (Self-paced Virtual Class)
• AIX System Administration II: Problem Determination (Self-paced Virtual Class)

Today, with the rapid changes taking place in the information technology field, keeping your AIX system administration skills current requires continuous training. In today's economic climate, it is hard to find the time or the money to attend classroom training.

Get approximately 90 hours of self-paced instruction, including hands-on labs and e-tutor support.

The courses are a great alternative, if you need the convenience of learning outside a traditional classroom. Each course is a dynamic training experience consisting of rich content, multimedia training modules, simulations, remote hands-on labs on real AIX machines and live e-tutors to answer all of your AIX questions.

The course and the labs are available 24 hours a day, but they must be scheduled in advance, after you access the course on-line.

The self-paced format gives you the opportunity to complete the course at your convenience, at any location, and at your own pace.

• Execute common AIX commands

• Use and customize the AIX windows environment and Common Desktop Environment (CDE)
• Install the AIX operating system, software bundles, and filesets
• Perform system startup and shutdown
• Use the available system management tools: System Management Interface Tool (SMIT) and the Web-based System Manager
• Configure devices
• Manage print queues
• Manage physical and logical volumes
• Perform file systems management
• Manage paging space on disk
• Create and manage user and group accounts
• Perform and restore system backups
• Utilize administration subsystems, including cron to schedule system tasks and security to implement customized access of files and directories
• Describe basic AIX networking concepts
• Perform system problem determination procedures including running diagnostics, analyzing error logs, and carrying out dumps on the system
• Learn and practice recovery procedures for various types of boot and disk failures
• Examine disk management theory a component of the LVM and Object Data Manager (ODM)
• Analyze basic performance to identify system bottlenecks and suggest corrective action
• Configure AIX auditing and examine other security elements in the AIX operating system
