This course explains how to plan for, implement, and manage the ongoing operations of the Power i. Emphasis is on security. You are also introduced to the architecture and terminology of IBM i and Power i.

This course is for IT managers and their staff who are responsible for:
- Designing a security plan for the System i
- Implementing and managing security
This course is not recommended for operators, but students must have either attended the System Operators Workshop for System i (AS24)(OV24) or have the equivalent knowledge and experience on the system.
Forkunnskaper
You should be able to:
- Navigate a Windows-based PC
- Use IBM i commands and have a sound knowledge of system operations
The system operations skills can be obtained by attending the System Operator Workshop for System i (AS247NO) - classroom / System Operator Workshop for System i (OV24) - ILO (Instructor Led Online) or if you have the equivalent knowledge and experience of the subject matter taught in this course.
Mål
- Describe the features, functions and benefits of the Power-based server running IBM i relevant to security
- Describe the security requirements for your Power-based server running IBM i
- Identify the system security features that satisfy your requirements
- Describe and implement the features and facilities of the Power-based server running IBM i available to audit security
- List the elements of a security plan
- Perform these activities using either a green screen 5250 emulation session (through command-line entry) or by using System i Navigator or IBM Systems Director Navigator
