The IBM PureFlex System is a new category of computing that combines multiple server architectures, networking, chassis, storage, and system management capability into a single integrated system that is easy to deploy and manage.
This introductory class on the IBM Flex System x240 Compute Node starts with a through overview of the IBM Flex System components. We discuss the value of these new systems, terminology and components. Next is the new IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis along with the Power compute nodes, networking, systems management, and the external storage device - IBM Storwize V7000. Building on that foundation we next discuss the x86 compute node - the IBM Flex System x240 Compute Node. The x240 is a high-performance server that offers outstanding performance for virtualization with new levels of CPU performance and memory capacity, and flexible configuration options.
Enrollment in this basic course is not restricted. However, typical students taking this course include technical IBM personnel from the FTSS, ATS, and Techline organizations as well as business partner technical personnel involved with planning, installation, configuration, and upgrading of IBM PureFlex systems.
