This course is designed to teach experienced PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX professionals the latest features in PowerHA SystemMirror. It covers how to:
- Effectively administer and monitor a IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX cluster
- Implement PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX's more complex advanced configuration options
- Perform problem determination on a PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX cluster

This course is designed for experienced AIX system administrators and support personnel who will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and implementation of PowerHA SystemMirror clusters on IBM Power p systems running AIX. This audience will include:
- Students who want to learn work with the PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX V6.1 release.
- Students who want to learn about how to implement PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX in complex configurations
- Students who want to pass the IBM Certified Systems Expert HACMP V5
- Technical leaders responsible for designing PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX clustering solutions
Note: This course is not suitable for students with no prior knowledge of AIX or PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX who want to go from novice to expert in five days.
Forkunnskaper
Students should have experience with installing and performing standard PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX configuration functions, which can be obtained through the following course (or equivalent experience):
- PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX System Administration I: Planning and Implementation (AN410) - a mandatory prerequisite.
Students should also be familiar with:
- The AIX operating system
- The IBM server hardware that they are using
- The principles of good system management
- TCP/IP communications concepts and tools, as covered in Power Systems for AIX II: AIX Implementation and Administration (AN120) or AIX 6 Jumpstart for UNIX Professionals (AN140) briefly (or in TCPIP for AIX Administrators (AN210) extensively)
- Logical Volume Manager (LVM) concepts and configuration, as covered in Power Systems for AIX II: AIX Implementation and Administration (AN120) or AIX 6 Jumpstart for UNIX Professionals (AN140)
- Good Korn Shell script programming
Mål
The objectives of this class are to review PowerHA SystemMirror SystemMirror for AIX fundamental concepts, components, and new features. Students will gain advanced information that will be vital when building and administering complex HA configurations.
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Review fundamental PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX concepts and components
- Describe what is new with PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX V6.1
- Use the more complex extended path configuration options
- Determine the status of the cluster and cluster components
- Integrate applications into PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX
- Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) V5.3 Server
