This Expert Arena provides students with a remote environment where they can work with WebSphere Commerce V6 without having to install the software themselves. It is designed for specialists and application developers who are interested in working with and customizing WebSphere Commerce.

IBM WebSphere Commerce Enterprise, used by top enterprises, is widely regarded as an industry-leading e-commerce solution. It provides a next-generation solution designed to address a company's e-commerce needs and helps companies of all sizes enable their customers to do business on demand.

In this Expert Arena, students gain access to a working environment that includes WebSphere Commerce. Students access this environment remotely from their own desktop. Whether they want to extend their classroom experience by practicing new skills, or simply want to use an experimental environment for developing and deploying business applications, students can use the Expert Arena to gain more practical experience using WebSphere products.

Within 48 hours after submitting the online enrollment form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing your online link, your ID and password, and additional instructions for starting the course.

You can start the Expert Arena at any time. Once you start the Expert Arena, you have 60 days to complete it.

This Expert Arena is designed for Java or Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) developers who have experience in JavaScript, HTML, XML, and SQL and are familiar with the IBM WebSphere Commerce V6 solution architecture and programming environment.

• Java or J2EE application development skills
• JSP development and deployment skills
• Java servlet development and deployment skills
• JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL) skills
• Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) skills
• SQL skills
• Extensible Markup Language (XML) skills
• Knowledge of Rational Application Developer
• A thorough knowledge of IBM WebSphere Commerce V6.0 architecture, business models, data models, tools, and functionality as provided in courses Overview of IBM WebSphere Commerce and Introduction to V6 Features (SW866NO), and Introduction to IBM WebSphere Commerce V6 Store Development (SW868NO).

This Expert Arena offers 10 hours of access to a Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 environment that includes IBM WebSphere Commerce V6.

After you enroll in this course, you will be directed to a link to help you prepare your system to access the course. The minimum requirements are as follows.

Minimum workstation hardware requirements:

• 500 MHz Pentium
• 512 MB RAM
• Microsoft-compatible mouse
• SVGA graphics capability
• 16-bit sound

Minimum workstation software requirements:

• Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2003
• Internet Explorer browser version 6.0 or later, Netscape Navigator browser version 7.0 or later, Mozilla browser version 1.1 or later, or FireFox browser version 1.0.7 or later
• 128-bit encryption

Minimum requirements for courses with online labs or virtual classroom functions:

• Internet access at a minimum of 30 kbps of dedicated bandwidth
• Direct internet connection that allows communication on port 443 or 1494 (depending on your class)
• Proxy rules that permit Citrix ICA Client access using independent computing architecture (ICA) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) packets
