This 5.0 day workshop course provides you with the overall umbrella concepts and background knowledge to help you plan, install, customize, administer and operate GDPS/PPRC.
Hands-on lab exercises are used to reinforce the concepts and information presented during the course lectures.

Hands-on Labs comprise approximately 50% of the workshop to reinforce lecture material presented.
Participants
This workshop is intended for attendees :
- who provide storage management, z/OS system and Sysplex support,
- Automation specialists and those persons with operations/production control responsibilities at GDPS/PPRC or GDPS/PPRC HyperSwap Manager enterprises.
- Infrastructure architects with requisite background knowledge can also benefit.
Pré-requis
Attention: This workshop is restricted to employees of enterprises with an existing, valid GDPS/PPRC or GDPS/PPRC HyperSwap Manager license.
Attendees should have a good working knowledge in one of the following areas :
- Storage and/or remote copy administration/management
- z/OS and Sysplex management
- Automation
In addition to the above background skill requirements, attendees are expected to have read "GDPS - An Introduction to Concepts and Capabilities", available as a Redpiece at URL:
Objectifs
At the completion of this workshop the student should be able to:
Understand the basic terminology and concepts relating to high availability, disaster recovery and GDPS.
Perform GDPS-related tasks under the guidance and supervision of GDPS-experienced, subject matter experts in your organization
Note: The objective of the workshop is to provide "generalist" GDPS skills as opposed to highly specialized GDPS skills for different subject matter areas (such as operations, automation and so on).
