This course will teach you to use the HCD dialog to define and change I/O Configurations stored within IODFs. System initialization in hardware and software terms as well as dynamic activation of a changed configuration will be discussed in detail.
There will be a conceptional review of ESCON architecture as well as of some commonly used devices and concepts in the area of I/O. This includes CTCs, ESCON directors (switches), OSAs, virtual DASD subsystems, and so forth.
There will be a conceptional review of FICON architecture as well as some new devices and concepts in the area of I/O. This includes FCTCs, FICON directors (switches), Shark DASD subsystems, and so forth.
The course consists of theory sessions and a large number practical lab exercises.
