Job Role Description / Target Audience
This Storage Sales Specialist identifies opportunities for business and generates/qualifies demand using a consultative approach. This sales specialist determines and effectively uses available tools and resources to determine and sell enterprise storage solutions that meet the customer needs and requirements. The Storage Sales Specialist has a broad knowledge of the features, functions and benefits of IBM enterprise storage solutions, and knowledge of competitive solutions. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of IBM enterprise storage products to the customer's environment in an effort to solve business problems.
This Storage Sales Specialist can perform the following tasks without assistance: present the IBM storage product portfolio to the customer; articulate features and benefits of IBM enterprise storage products; gather customer requirements; identify and engage correct resources; identify competitors; perform a TCO analysis; demonstrate facilities and tools; identify warranty, installation and support options; know where to find training and sales support materials.
This Storage Sales Specialist can perform the following tasks without assistance: present the solution to the customer; mitigate competitors; understand the TDA process; provide input to the storage configuration; understand storage from a project perspective, e.g., disaster recovery solutions, connectivity to servers, etc.; be aware of purpose and general capabilities of Disk Magic and Capacity Magic.
Recommended Prerequisite Skills
Minimum of 12 months practical experience selling in the enterprise storage environment, and six months selling IBM enterprise storage solutions.
