Job Role Description / Target Audience

The IBM Certified Specialist - System z Business Resiliency Solution Selling identifies opportunities to help System z customers and prospective customers make their computing environments more resilient.  This specialist determines business needs and requirements, designs and sells High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Continuous Availability solutions that support customer needs and requirements, and positions the solution in terms of what it will do for the customer's environment.

Individuals in this role can justify solutions from a financial perspective, effectively identify tools and resources to close sales.

The System z Business Resilience Specialist has a broad knowledge of the features, functions, and limitations of High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Continuous Availability, including benefits to the customer environment. This specialist knows System z hardware, software and services/offerings, and can make appropriate recommendations based on customer requirements.

This specialist knows the IBM support structure and available resources, and keeps up with IBM and industry trends in order to best position customer solutions. Individuals in this role are skilled in consultative selling, negotiation, relationship management, financial marketing, written and oral communication, and team building. 

The target audience for this certification is IBM employees, both brand sellers and client technical sellers, who are responsible for selling IBM Business Resiliency solutions.

Recommended Prerequisite Skills

The successful candidate will have two to five (2-5) years of experience selling System z servers, with a strong emphasis on situations where resilience is of critical importance to the customer.  They are able to work with customers to discover their needs, relate System z features and functions to those needs, identify the complete solution and guide the customer through the acquisition process.
