Job Role Description / Target Audience
The IBM Certified Specialist - z Systems Solutions Sales V7 creates, identifies, and expands opportunities and takes customer orders to fulfillment. This specialist determines business needs and requirements, designs and sells z Systems solutions that address customer needs and requirements, and positions the solution in terms of what it will do for the customers' business. This specialist understands and has the ability to propose Cloud, Analytics, Mobile, Social and Security solutions to address customer's strategic initiatives in these areas. Individuals in this role can justify solutions from a financial perspective, effectively use tools and resources to close sales, and work within accounts to ensure customer satisfaction and build/maintain customer relationships.
The successful candidate is familiar with the IBM z Systems servers (zBC12, zEC12, and z13) as well as typically encountered previous z Systems servers. The z Systems Sales Specialist has knowledge of the features, functions and benefits of Cloud, Analytics, Mobile, Social and Security solutions. This specialist knows z Systems hardware, software and services/offerings, as well as competitive offerings and what differentiates the z Systems from its competitors. The candidate knows business resilience concepts and terms, and positions z Systems solutions according to customer requirements. This specialist knows the IBM support structure and available resources, and keeps up with IBM and industry trends in order to best position customer solutions. Individuals in this role are skilled in consultative selling, negotiation, relationship management, financial marketing, written and oral communication, and team building.
The target audience for this certification includes IBM Business Partners and IBM employees who are responsible for selling IBM z Systems-based solutions.
Recommended Prerequisite Skills
The successful candidate will have two or more years of experience selling z Systems servers and solutions. The candidate is able to work with customers to discover their needs, relate z Systems features and functions to those needs, identify the complete solution and guide the customer through the acquisition process.
