An IBM Certified System Administrator - IBM i 6.1 has a strong understanding of IBM i and its administration on Power Systems servers.   In performing his or her daily tasks, the System Administrator also leads and mentors operators.

Recommended Prerequisite Skills

The successful candidate has 12-24 months or more experience performing a variety of networking and daily system management tasks.  This person can, without assistance, install IBM i and configure a system, understand and manage LPAR and basic virtualization technologies (including VIO), manage IBM i and system updates and fixes, manage internal storage, networking, and system security.  An IBM i administrator can design and maintain backup and recovery plans, and direct system recoveries.  He or she can analyze systems and tune them for better performance.
