Each country has its own IBM Academic Initiative Program Agreement that includes the legal licensing terms of your membership. You will need to agree to the terms of your country's Program Agreement to be approved for Academic Initiative membership.
For many countries, you can agree online to the licensing terms when you submit your membership application. However, laws in the countries indicated by an asterisk (*) require their citizens to provide a hardcopy of the Program Agreement to IBM. If you are in one of these countries, you must print the Program Agreement for your country, sign it, and mail or fax it to the address or phone number on the agreement.
Latin American countries, indicated by an arrow (), require a slightly different process, as described on the Latin American institutional-level agreements page.
