Do you or your customers need to add more value and extend functionality beyond e-mail with the ability to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations; to add workflow to Lotus Domino applications; and to collaborate in real time? How important is a security rich environment, the ability for users to effectively work offline, and built-in collaboration tools along with server-managed deployment and upgrades? Is an out-of-the-box wireless e-mail solution to Windows Mobile 5 or 6 devices valuable to your users? Is Domino Web access optimized for bandwidth important to you?
Lotus Notes 8.5 incorporates the open standards of the Eclipse application development framework and a component-based service-oriented architecture (SOA). Developers and customers now have the ability to build Domino and non-Domino composite applications to Lotus Notes rich clients. You will be given hands-on experiences using the Eclipse, .NSF and XPages programming models.
In this workshop, hear how the improvements in this release build on the breakthrough innovation started in IBM Lotus Notes 8 and Domino 8, and can help you build applications more quickly and reuse existing assets as your business needs evolve. Through hands-on exercises, learn how server-managed provisioning works, how to install Notes Traveler (the wireless e-mail solution for Windows Mobile devices) and how to incorporate sidebar, widgets and Lotus Notes plug-ins in your deployments. This workshop covers the new Domino Designer 8.5, including using Web services and native Web service consumer support. XPages application development on the Lotus Notes client, along with the drag and drop feature is covered.
