Watson is IBM’s first-generation cognitive system – containing massive statistical algorithms running massively in parallel. It combines natural language processing, machine learning, and hypothesis generation and evaluation to give you direct, confidence-based responses. Sandy Carter is IBM General Manager Ecosystem Development, responsible for IBM’s worldwide focus on building ecosystems around core growth areas in IBM: Cloud, Mobile, Social, Big Data and Analytics. The ecosystem, which includes partners, developers, ISVs, entrepreneurs, influencers, academics and venture capitalists, drives approximately one-third of IBM’s revenue. Giving partners the power of Watson behind their applications, Sandy led the recent announcement of the IBM Watson Ecosystem, cognitive computing in the cloud, with record breaking interest from partners and others. The award-winning Global Entrepreneur Program delivered over 120,000 mentors to help startups and entrepreneurs expand and grow. Under her leadership, IBM won awards from VAR Business, Xchange Excellence, and Forrester ISV Partner Program.
A recognized leader in social business and Social Business Evangelist for IBM, Sandy is an award-winning author of 3 books, including best-selling “Get Bold”, which has been translated into 9 languages. She is recognized as a Thought Leader on Social Media, and named Top 10 in Social Media, Top 50 Social Business Influencers, and one of the "Ten Most Powerful Women in Tech."
Savitha Srinivasan is a Partner in IBM's Venture Capital Group and Director of Corporate Strategy where she develops strategic relationships with venture capitalists and their portfolio companies to leverage external innovation for mutual strategic advantage. She has over 20 years of experience at IBM in leadership roles addressing the strategic priorities of IBM’s Services businesses and leads the development of IBM’s Services venture ecosystem, with each of the Global Technology Services business units – Strategic Outsourcing, Integrated Technology Services and Industry Analytics with early identification of companies, fostering pilots, partnerships and M&A insights. She is currently engaged in driving IBM Watson’s Ecosystem strategy. Prior to this, she led multiple research teams as Senior Manager at IBM Research's first Services group to create and deliver value for IBM clients with data mining and business intelligence solutions. She also led the Services Information Strategy for IBM Research, and served as Research Advocate for key IBM customers bringing thought leadership and innovation to client engagements. She began her career at IBM Watson Research and has over 15 patents in unstructured information management. She received an MS in computer science from Pace University and an executive MBA from Columbia University. She is a member of IEEE and ACM and an area editor for IEEE Computer.
Stephen Gold is Vice President, Watson Ecosystem and Market Development, IBM Watson
Group. He has global responsibility for partner development and bringing Watson’s transformative capabilities to the market via the Watson Developer Cloud, Watson Content Store, and Watson Talent Hub. As a member of the senior leadership team, he is working to help commercialize industry solutions based on IBM’s cognitive technology.
Prior to joining IBM, Stephen was Vice President of Marketing (CMO) for SPSS, acquired by IBM in 2009. As President of the Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company, Stephen oversaw all aspects of the publically traded market research organization, which covered twenty-six distinct technology markets. Previous to this Stephen successfully scaled and sold two Silicon Valley based startups; Azerity to ModelN as CEO; and Digital Market to Agile (now Oracle) as its CMO.
Stephen has a twenty-year winning track record of leading successful enterprises and building businesses across industries (technology, software and services) and geographies (domestic and international) for both high growth private and multi-billion dollar publicly traded corporations. Stephen holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and graduated with distinction from Carnegie Mellon University with an MBA. The Pennsylvania Small Business Association and Carnegie Mellon have both recognized him as “Entrepreneur of the Year”. Stephen has appeared on CNN and is a featured speaker at various conferences and universities.
Phil Gray is the EVP of Business Development for Interactions Corporation. He is responsible for leading business development at Interactions. Phil is a successful startup executive with extensive experience in natural language understanding and contact center technologies. His accomplishments include founding and leading Versay, a natural language, speech applications company.
He also drove many of the speech industry’s earliest deployments as a sales executive at Nuance. In addition, as a Vice President at eLoyalty, he helped launch the industry’s first speech analytics continuous improvement service. Phil has a degree in business from Michigan State University.

Jamie Goldstein is a Partner at North Bridge Venture Partners investing mainly in communications and infrastructure but as in his earlier entrepreneurial career, he is willing to reach into various sectors to grab the intriguing idea. When the founding North Bridge team recruited Jamie Goldstein in 1998, he became the first of a new generation of investors at the company. Jamie's venture interests are diverse: data center infrastructure, wired and wireless communications technologies and advanced materials.
As part of his professional entrepreneurial success story, he co-founded PureSpeech, a venture-backed speech recognition software and applications company targeting service providers and enterprise call centers. Jamie served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, driving revenue through OEM relationships with leading PC manufacturers and voice services platform providers. PureSpeech was acquired by Voice Control Systems [NASDAQ: VCSI] and subsequently sold to Nuance [NASDAQ: NUAN]. Previously, Jamie was an early employee with Symmetrix, a provider of manufacturing execution software that helped old-line manufacturing companies streamline their operations. Symmetrix grew to nearly 200 employees before its acquisition by SAIC. During business school, he co-founded WattsUp?, a company selling consumer electricity meters that remains in business today.
Jamie grew up in the Boston area and is a graduate of MIT in Electrical Engineering and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He is the current Chairman and former President of the New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA). He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Match Charter Schools. Jamie is also actively involved in the MIT Deshpande Center for Innovation and serves as a judge for the MIT 100K Business Plan Contest. Lastly, he was co-founder of Start6, the IAP Bootcamp for EECS Entrepreneurs and Innovators.
