IBM System x iDataPlex
Providing your organization with industry leading energy, cooling and space efficiency
Customize, optimize and right-size your large scale data center
Designed for data centers that require high performance, yet are constrained on floor space, power and cooling infrastructure, the IBM System x™ iDataPlex™ provides an innovative, half-depth solution optimized for maximum density and incredible efficiency. The design of the iDataPlex solution integrates Intel® Xeon® processor-based processing into the node, rack and data center for power and cooling efficiencies, and required compute density.
Highlights include:
- The iDataPlex dx360 M2 is the top rated server for both performance and energy efficiency in the x86 marketplace1
- Flexible design for large-scale data centers
- Dramatically reduced cooling costs; air conditioning expense minimized or even eliminated2
- Up to 5X compute density for efficient space utilization
- Front access cabling
- Easy to service and manage

1 According to the SPEC® (Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation) performance per watt results published June 10, 2009. Results can be found at http://www.spec.org/power_ssj2008/results/power_ssj2008.html (link resides outside of ibm.com)
2 In most cases with the IBM Rear Door Heat eXchanger installed in the iDataPlex rack, outlet temperatures from the back of the iDataPlex rack are up to 10 degrees lower than inlet air (room) temperatures. This helps eliminate the need for air conditioning and facilitates cooling of the next row of iDataPlex racks using the iDataPlex flow-through layout.
