Leaner by driving efficiency

- Innovate to ‘do more with less’
- Cut costs, drive up performance
- Collaborate and share best practice
There is a strong imperative across the UK Public Sector to innovate to do more with less - in other words to be ‘leaner’. This constant requirement is driven by a set of Government initiatives and programmes ranging from the Gershon review to the Comprehensive Spending Review to the Transformational Strategy. The Lean challenge can be approached using a number of methods including Lean Sigma, Shared Services and Business Performance Management. IBM has breadth and depth in all of these derived both from IBM’s own transformation and our work with private and public sector clients in the UK and internationally. Whatever the approach a number of success factors typically apply including committed leadership, strong customer focus, tight strategic alignment and project selection, full time resourcing and organisation and a robust business process framework. The case studies and papers below illustrate some of IBM’s experience and methods.
