The UK public sector is home to an estimated 5.5 million IT desktops, each of which could include any number of IT devices, from mobile phones to laptops. As these devices have built up over the years, older tech has been left underused but still plugged in to the network, resulting in compatibility and compliance issues. Keeping up with all of these devices, software and licenses is becoming a problem for public sector bodies – not to mention the bigger problem of cost. In order to achieve savings, the public sector needs to conduct a thorough IT desktop audit, to provide a clear representation of the IT assets in place and begin the process to create more efficient and effective IT desktops.
