EDRMS Education Rollout, A partnership with IBM
Overview
- Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has put into practice an initiative called Seven Key Changes for Success
- Four of these changes are supported by the OCC’s implementation of EDRMS
- EDRMS provides electronic storage and retention for documents related to the day-to-day business operations of OCC and is being used increasingly across the directorates
- Approximately 1,500 EDRMS users to date, with a potential audience of approximately 6,000 over the coming two years
- Within OCC, no formal, organized training on using EDRMS had been established
- Training had been carried out on a one-to-one basis, without handouts, as individual needs arise
- This forced employees to rely on colleagues, which in turn spread the risk of bad practice being perpetuated
- With a potential audience of approximately 6,000 over the coming two years a training solution was required
- OCC partnered with IBM to meet the training challenge posed by the EDRMS rollout
Benefits
The partnership delivered real value to Oxfordshire County Council and its employees.
- Rollout to 6,000+ users across the county,
- Development in a little over two months,
- Integration in to OCC’s Learning Management System,
- Reduced calls to helpdesk
- Easy to maintain materials
- Students can revisit the education where/when they wish at no cost.
- Enabled the Council to move closer to the 2004 Modernizing Government target on electronic records
As a result of this success, Oxfordshire County Council have gone on to commission two more e-learning projects from IBM.
