City Furniture had the challenge of having operations decentralized with 23 stores running different systems. City Furniture preferred a centralized solution for their stores and wanted to enable existing applications for the Web.

IDF upgraded City Furniture to the power 5 technology on an IBM i520 and Web-enabled their existing applications utilizing IBM WebSphere HATS (Host application transformation Server) software.

The decentralization system was sized appropriately to remove the remote systems and City Furniture now runs all 23 stores from the host data center. By moving this workload to the data center, City Furniture utilizes existing storage/tape devices and provides faster backups. Web-enabling their systems allowed City Furniture to improve sales force information.
