Solution overview
WoodManager keeps a customer’s inventory up-to-date with production, purchases, committed sales and shipments. User-defined multiple units of measure (UoMs) work in conjunction with dimensional calculations to manage lumber, panel, millwork, cutstock, posts and pilings, as well as other volumetric products. Inventory is maintained as ticketed or volume-only.
Pacific Software’s experience has touched all the major segments of forest industries:
- Softwood lumber, including dimension, shop and special cuttings
- Hardwood lumber, including random lengths, widths and grades
- Panel products, including plywood, OSB, MDF, particleboard

Proven client success
A client of PSA needed an integrated solution that would help track lumber inventory from the ground to the final user, while keeping the sales force notified on new inventory.
The solution was designed around a System i5 Express Edition server, bundled with PSA’s WoodManager and WoodResource software. PSA then added the IBM Integrated xSeries® server running Oracle under Microsoft Windows, so all of the customer data resided on one hardware platform.
Using this highly integrated solution, the client now has the capability of providing their customers real-time inventory, pricing, actual cost of goods and shipment status. This allows them to spend less time looking up inventory, and more time providing their goods and services to their customer.
