Solution overview

Leap Wireless had a requirement to provide a solution for their outsourced Local Number Portability (LNP) system. When a new customer signs up for Leap's Cricket service, they can bring their phone number from their existing wireless carrier. The process of picking that number up from the telecommunications industry database that maintains the registry, and integrating the new customer information into Leap's financial systems, was a critical but expensive process.

Leap brought the process in-house, using a team of twelve DATASKILL resources. This team developed the application and business process integration to tie together internal and external data sources. The WebSphere Business Integration Server Express helped to improve business flexibility, while simplifying configuration and administration tasks.

Proven client success

Using the solution built on WebSphere Business Integration Express, Leap Wireless is spending about 25% of what their original system cost them, operationally, each year.

The LNP system helped them to improve the speed with which they could port numbers to and from other carries for new subscribers. It helped them to improve customer service levels by being able to respond more quickly.
